Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how Colorbox (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, and protects information when you use the Colorbox app and website (the “Service”). We aim to collect only what we need to run the Service. We handle personal data in line with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018 — and the EU GDPR where it applies to users in the European Economic Area.
Information We Collect
Account & profile. An anonymous account identifier is created automatically so we can store your library, credits, and subscription state. If you set a public username, we store that handle.
Content you create. Prompts and any optional reference image you submit to generate a coloring page, plus the coloring pages and colorings you create.
Purchases. Subscription and credit status. Payments are processed by Apple and our subscription provider; we do not receive your full payment-card details.
Usage & diagnostics. Device type, operating system, general region, session and interaction logs, feature usage, and credit/generation activity — used in anonymized or aggregated form to improve the Service.
Reference Images & Retention
If you upload a reference image for AI generation, it is used solely to produce the coloring page you requested. To do this, the image is sent to third-party AI image-generation providers that act as our processors and generate the line art on our behalf; they are contractually restricted to using it only to perform that task. The image is stored on our servers only as long as needed for generation and is automatically deleted within 7 days (typically much sooner). We do not use reference images for facial recognition, biometric identification, tracking, profiling, advertising, or to train AI models. You can request deletion of your uploads at any time.
How We Use Information
To provide and improve the Service; to generate, store, and display your coloring pages; to manage subscriptions and credits; to prevent abuse and enforce our Terms; and to provide support.
Legal Bases (UK GDPR)
We process personal data on the bases of your consent, performance of our contract with you (providing the Service), compliance with legal obligations, and our legitimate interests in operating and securing the Service.
Public Content
If a coloring page is public or you share its link, the page and its line art (and your public username, if set) may be displayed in the app and on the Colorbox website and may be downloaded by others. You can make a page private in the app.
Third-Party Services
We rely on the following processors, each acting under contractual restrictions: Apple (in-app purchases), our subscription-management provider (RevenueCat), Google Firebase (authentication, database, storage, and push notifications), our analytics provider (Amplitude), and AI image-generation providers used to create coloring pages. These providers process data on our behalf to deliver the Service.
Data Retention
We retain your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service and meet legal obligations. You can request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.
International Transfers & Security
Where data is transferred internationally, we use appropriate safeguards such as data-processing agreements and standard contractual clauses. We protect data with measures including encryption in transit (TLS), access controls, and monitoring. No method of transmission or storage is fully secure, but we work to protect your information and will notify you of breaches where required by law.
Your Rights
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; object to or restrict certain processing; request portability; and lodge a complaint with the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) or your local data-protection authority.
Children's Privacy
Colorbox is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If we learn that we have collected such data, we will delete it. Users under 18 should use the Service only with parental or guardian involvement.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Policy from time to time and will communicate material changes in the app or by other appropriate means. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect indicates acceptance.
